Four Stop Smoking Aids to Help You Quit

When you have made the decision to stop smoking, you are about to attempt kicking the habit of one of the strongest addictions on the planet. Nicotine addiction is considered to be on par with that associated with drugs such as heroin and cocaine. Using a stop smoking aid can be just the thing needed to help you stop smoking cigarettes and become smoke free while improving your health.

#1 Stop Smoking Aid - Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)

Nicotine replacement therapies (NRT's) are a very popular method to stop smoking. They help you wean yourself off of nicotine through slowing reducing the amount of the drug that you ingest daily. They have an added benefit of not having the additives that cigarettes do while providing your body with the chemicals needed to help your smoking cessation efforts progress slowly. NRT's are not cheap stop smoking aids, however, they generally run equal to or less than the cost of an equivalent amount of cigarettes whether you choose gum, mints, or the patch for your NRT of choice. You do need to heed the warnings included with the NRT that you choose since the combination of multiple NRT's can be harmful to your health.

#2 Stop Smoking Aid - Stop Smoking Laser Treatment

The stop smoking laser treatment combines the knowledge of acupressure with modern technology. The laser treatment stimulates pre-known points on your body in order to stimulate endorphins through the use of a pulsating laser. The treatment helps reduce your desire to smoke while also stimulating its metabolism in order to reduce the amount of weight gain you will see when kicking the habit. When combined with other self-help methods, the stop smoking laser treatment has proven to be highly effective. The stop smoking laser treatment is still relatively new, so you may find yourself having to travel to another state (or another country if you live abroad) to seek out the treatment.

#3 Stop Smoking Aid - Stop Smoking by Using Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy has become a popular stop smoking aid in alternative medicine circles. It takes repeated treatments to help you quit, but avoids the use of other drugs and chemicals. The method makes use of acupuncture to help stimulate the amount of endorphin production in your body. This helps reduce the withdrawal effects of cutting off the nicotine supply to your body and reduces the overall stress level associated with quitting cigarettes.
#4 Stop Smoking Aid - Taking Stop Smoking Pills

Perhaps the most popular stop smoking aids, stop smoking pills have been around for a long time. They are intended to increase the supply of dopamine and epinephrine in your body so that you do not suffer as bad of withdrawal symptoms from the elimination of nicotine as you normally would. The stop smoking pill is designed to be absorbed rapidly by your body so that an immediate effect is achieved. Similar to other stop smoking aids, the stop smoking pill is most effective when combined with smoking cessation behavioral modification classes.

Help Me Stop Smoking – The Mind Battle to Quit Smoking

I looked for inspiration to help me stop smoking for years. Have you ever felt that you were a special case, it was much more difficult for you to give up smoking than anyone else? Other people could survive for a couple of days without a smoke then relapse, I honestly thought I couldn’t get even that far.

I literally built up to my quit for years, it sounds pathetic but I never even had the nerve to try and quit smoking yet I though about it all the time. I was the master of excuses, how many of these have you used ?

I’ll just wait until after my holidays, so I don’t spoil the break
I’ll just wait until I’ve got over this stressful situation at work and then I’ll quit
I’ll just wait until the winter is over so I can get out and about more and then I’ll quit
I’ll just take a few days/months/years to get in the right frame of mind and then…

Well you get the picture, I was great at excuses but that didn’t actually help me stop smoking. I always thought I was more addicted than anyone else, my life was more focussed on smoking so it would be harder for me to quit than anyone else ! I suspect we all think like that but I honestly thought I’d never quit and my 20 years would turn into 40 years of smoking if I survived that long.

Although in the end I just quit, first time, no relapse, no great problems and I didn’t modify my lifestyle one jot. I still went outside with the smokers at break times, I still sat in the pub with my smoking friends and it didn’t bother me.

The battle to give up smoking is in the mind

I truly 100% believe this, if you can win the battle of smoking in your mind, quitting will be easy. Here’s the deal, smokers think that cigarettes bring pleasure to your life, you enjoy a cigarette with a drink, with your coffee and it helps you relax and cope with life.

Do you know what it’s true!

Smoking does make life easier
A cigarette with that coffee does make it more enjoyable
Having a smoke on your holidays did improve your mood
You are more relaxed when you have just had a cigarette
It’s all true ! But and it’s a biggie, the reason why a cigarette makes a feeling or and an experience better is because every minute of the day that you are not smoking your body is suffering the effects of nicotine withdrawal. The minute you finish that last puff then your nicotine levels are falling and so your craving is increasing. The withdrawals symptoms are those horrible empty feelings you have as if there’s something missing and what’s missing is nicotine, go on have a cigarette it will make you feel better !

However unless you keep smoking forever each cigarette restarts the cycle, every single feeling and experience in your life will be slightly worse when you are not smoking because it is tinged with withdrawal symptoms. That is why smoking gets the credit for good and happy times for smokers because those are the only times when they don’t have to suffer the nicotine withdrawals.

Realising there was no pleasure was the key to help me stop smoking. Next time you smoke a cigarette try and think about the bits you enjoy, is it the taste or the inhaling the smoke, perhaps that lovely smell? Also do one thing for me next time you see another person light up a cigarette look carefully at their faces, do they look as though they are enjoying it or is it the first great drag to calm them down then the rest just smoked out of habit ? Is that a look of pleasure on their face or a look of need as they calm their body down with a burst of nicotine – you decide.

If you win the battle of the mind you can give up easily I promise you. There is absolutely no reason that you shouldn’t stop smoking today. Here’s some of my thoughts on stress and smoking if you’d like to read them – Smoking stress

Hope they help and good luck!

Yes, You Do Not Have to Put on Weight When You Quit Smoking

Are you one of those smokers who plan to quit but you are worried about how to quit smoking without gaining weight? You are not alone. Many smokers have heard stories about how ex-smokers put on weight after they quit smoking and do fear about the weight gain when they stop smoking.

But do all smokers who quit gain weight? And if they do, why does that happen? It actually started when you choose to smoke. When you smoke, you tend to lose your taste for food. As a result, you do not find food that appetizing and as such, you lose weight.

Cigarettes become best substitute for foods. Your food appetite is altered. Once you quit smoking, your taste buds are revived and foods suddenly becomes more appetizing and as such you may tend to eat more. Without proper exercises, it is no wonder that you begin to gain weight.

While, to some people, there is no easy way to break the smoking habit without gaining weight, it is not true for all. With a bit of self control and adjustment to your diet, you can quit smoking without gaining weight.

Smokers must have good reasons to drive themselves to quit smoking. Above anybody else, they must be convinced of what they are doing. They must be disciplined to follow brief guidelines to quit smoking without gaining weight.

Consult a doctor on quit smoking drugs and pieces of advice for other means to quit smoking. For instance, it would be a recreational activity to jog or walk for at least 10 to 20 minutes during mornings and nights. It would also be wise to gradually stop oneself from smoking.

In fact, it would be a good start to divide the number of cigarettes smoked into half. These cigarettes are distributed into plastic bags marked with days. In this manner, the smoker lessens and thereby controls the cigarette sticks smoked for a week span.

After succeeding in the first week, keep in mind to reduce the number of cigarettes placed inside the plastic bags until these were reduced to three. Keep doing the short walks during mornings and nights while smoking until there were only two cigarette sticks left. Then, keep the ritual of walking this time, without smoking, hence not carrying any plastic bags of cigarettes.

Once the cigarette sticks have been outnumbered, the former habit is replaced with a healthier and recreational walking activity. When one finds himself or herself craving, he or she needs not to worry. The solution is to resort to walking. Besides the detoxifying action that it gives, it helps maintain the body in shape. Thus, after a meal, one does not feel gaining weight as eating square meals is supported by the exercise of walking.

There are also other means besides walking. These include recreational activities that can alter the mind and shift the attention from smoking. Gardening, sewing and knitting are just a few of these.

As you can see, anyone can quit smoking without gaining weight. Learn how you can quit smoking with ease at my Quit Smoking Tips blog. Do also download your FREE Quit Smoking Report and learn the truth behind smoking.

If you are looking for a natural alternative to giving up your habit, then perhaps the best option is hypnosis, also known as hypnotherapy.

Hypnosis is considered an excellent natural aid for the cessation of smoking. It has also been proven to be effective in overcoming undesirable and addictive habits including alcoholism, gambling and over-eating.

Hypnosis is a process that enables both your body and mind to relax while emphasizing on a particular program. It is important to note that hypnosis is not just a process of relaxing or falling asleep, but rather a process in which a person’s conscious as well as subconscious mind works on processing the same concept at the same time. Usually, one stores different beliefs and values sent by the conscious mind into the subconscious mind. When the conscious mind sends unhelpful values to the subconscious mind it gradually forms part of a habit, which is repeated again and again.

When one tries to remove these habits consciously, it may not work properly. However hypnosis works on the subconscious level and it helps to pull off unhealthy behaviors easily from the roots, thereby replacing them with desirable as well as healthy beliefs and habits. One of the great things regarding hypnosis is that as it is a consensual process, one can never be hypnotized against his or her will. Most of the studies reveal that the majority of the people approach a hypnotherapist in order to stop addictive behaviors.

Hypnosis can be applied in a couple of ways in order to quit smoking, the most prominent being self- hypnosis, then, hypnosis offered by an expert hypnotherapist, and a combination of the two. An efficient, harmless, method for quitting smoking with self-hypnosis usually involves a series of techniques, which in turn allows you to relax and guides you in ceasing your smoking habit. Having the support of friends and family also makes quitting more effective, when going at it on your own.

In the case of hypnosis by a certified hypnotherapist, the hypnotherapist applies certain specified images and techniques in order to help a person with their smoking habits. Along with suggestions and positive affirmations hypnotherapists also offer one or two session programs to make it more successful.

Depending upon the nature of the issues handled, hypnotherapy may involve two to six sessions. However, before consulting a hypnotherapist, it must be checked whether the specialist you have chosen is trained and at the same time certified by a reputable hypnosis organization like the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH).

The combination method is mostly in the form of recorded programs by an experienced hypnosis professional. One of the prime benefits of this method is that it allows one to listen to the program easily within the comforts of the home or office.

Ceasing smoking through an effective hypnosis treatment provides a lot of benefits, which among many others are:

1. A considerable reduction in stress
2. An assist in getting rid of difficulties involved with smoking
3. Helps in eliminating the level of desire for nicotine
4. Fosters hopefulness, thereby reducing grumpiness and withdrawal symptoms
5. It’s great for establishing self-control and self-discipline
6. Helps with personal empowerment
7. Strengthens motivation
8. Creates positive changes in attitudes and beliefs of yourself and others
9. And above all, hypnosis doesn’t have any side effects

It is evident that hypnosis is undoubtedly a credible as well as powerful solution in order to transform a chronic cigarette smoker into a well motivated, non- smoker.

Naturally Quit Smoking – It Is Possible!

There are more than 1 billion smokers in the world today. All of us are aware of the dangers of smoking to oneself and to others. Smoking leads to a lot of respiratory diseases such as emphysema and lung cancer, which are both part of the top causes of death globally. Smokers do not only pose a threat to themselves, but to the people surrounding them as well. Studies have shown that secondhand smoke is even more dangerous. Most of the smokers have considered quitting, but unfortunately, does not have enough will power to do it. Stop smoking tips are everywhere. However, it is still up to the smoker to have enough determination to successfully quit the habit.

Aside from stop smoking tips, there are also artificial ways to quit smoking. Some resort to nicotine patches or candies. However, some have the tendency to quit the actual act of smoking, but consequently become dependent on the artificial tool used. What happens is that smokers usually go back to the habit a few days or weeks of not using the nicotine patch, for example. This is why it’s better to just follow stop smoking tips that are natural and does not involve artificial means.

Here are some stop smoking tips that are really helpful:

Eat and Live Healthy Most smokers feel the urge to smoke when they encounter stress. Others feel that smoking after meals aids digestion. Smokers can avoid stress by making sure that we maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eating fruits and vegetables, or taking herbal supplements that reduce stress is a great way to facilitate a smoker’s intention to quit smoking. Smokers can also look for recreational activities that can take their mind away from smoking. In addition, constantly reminding someone of the dangers posed by smoking to themselves and to their loved ones might be able to do the trick.

Mind Power through Hypnotherapy Some smokers just cannot sustain the drive to quit smoking. Most would be able to stop for a few days, but would find themselves smoking again because they think they can’t quit. Through hypnotherapy, a smoker is subconsciously conditioned to relax and not feel the urge to smoke.

Just Quit Stop smoking tips are only as effective as the person’s will power to follow them. The most effective way to quit smoking is just to stop. Some people may have been successful by decreasing the number of cigarettes they consume in a day, until they reach a point that they can survive 24 hours without lighting one. However, for most people, it is more effective to just stop, and not go back to smoking no matter what it takes.

Stop smoking tips are just useful guides that can aid smokers to quit. However, it is still up to the person’s will power and determination to stop smoking. Artificial or natural means are both effective if someone has really decided that he or she wants to quit smoking. But if a smoker does not have enough motivation and willingness to quit, then any means would definitely be ineffective.

Quit Smoking Tips – Does Nicotine Replacement Therapy Work? – Nurse’s Guide

If you plan to quit smoking you may have heard that the nicotine patch, nicotine gum or other nicotine replacement therapy products don't work. I'll try to dispel this and other myths in this article. You can stop smoking with or without it. But knowing the facts will help you decide which way to go.
First of all, nicotine replacement therapy can work. For a smoker who wants to quit smoking it can almost double the chances that you will be able to stop smoking, without the help of "quit smoking pills", drugs or other aids. If you are a smoker and have a nicotine addiction and use nicotine replacement therapy you will more than likely stay smoking-free for more than six months. Now, that is IF you follow instructions, which some people do not do and expect it to work. The directions must be closely followed.

The nicotine in NRT products is not the same as the nicotine in cigarettes. Because of this becoming addicted to nicotine nasal spray, nicotine patches, nicotine lozenges, nicotine gum or a nicotine inhaler is unlikely. The nicotine replacement therapy products follow the guidelines of the FDA and are strictly adhered to. These products contain a lot less nicotine and it is delivered slowly. So there is less of a chance that you would become addicted to these products then cigarettes.

As for nicotine withdrawal symptoms, the products will lessen your withdrawal symptoms, but you may still have them. Some of the symptoms you should have less of however are hunger, cravings, anxiety, insomnia, irritability and anger.

The risks or long term effects of the nicotine replacement products, whether it is the nasal sprays, patches, lozenges, gum or inhaler are not known. There can be effects that will happen down the line but they are not known right now. These products are probably a lot safer than cigarettes. Tobacco smoke has more than 3900 chemicals and many are known to cause cancer. By using NRT products you are at least reducing the exposure to the hundreds of other chemicals you would be exposed to.

You can use these products by themselves or in combination but you would need to check with your doctor before you do any combining.

Also before you start on nicotine replacement, make sure to check with your doctor and see if there are any reasons why you should not use them based on your state of health and medical history.

The cost of these products varies, but the nasal spray is the least expensive, followed by nicotine patches, then nicotine lozenges, nicotine gum and then the more expensive nicotine inhaler.

If you can find a way to quit free or without using these products that would be the best approach so you don't expose yourself to more chemicals and drugs, But if you continue smoking and exposing yourself to the health risks and don't find it easy to quit without these products then that may be the best choice for you.

The best way to quit smoking is naturally. Using these nicotine replacement products is just one way to stop smoking. But they should be used with a comprehensive quit smoking plan, not just by themselves. There are a lot of other ways you can stop smoking and these should be explored first. There is a lot of free help available for smoking cessation. There are many natural ways to stop smoking. Many have done it with NRT or naturally. You can do it too!
